Bones-McKay is looking for Steampunk/Horror novellas for his collection.

We are in no way affiliated with this, but it looks interesting.
Hello all!

Since the 2013 meet-up generated a lot of interest, even if the actual turn out was rather small, I thought we should try again next summer.

This post has been a long time in the making, and might be a bit on the long side, but if you are interested in meeting fellow FreeWriters please stick with me and leave some feedback in the comments.

For 2014 I'm proposing a camping trip a bit closer to civilization, and by that I mean in Pennsylvania (which may or may not be civilized, but is probably closer to it than Yellowstone). As of right now I'm proposing a week long gathering since it will make for nice round cost estimations as well as give us plenty of time to see and do all sorts of fun stuff. If you think a different length of time would be better let us know in the comments and explain why you think so.

Accommodations
This www.sunvalleycamping.com/ campground will put us close to a number of attractions that will give us plenty to do during the meet-up. A week long rental of a deluxe cottage with 8 people sharing it would cost just over $100 per person, as seen here www.sunvalleycamping.com/Renta…. Of course for that to work out we would need at least 8 people on the trip.

Activities
This is a (hopefully) short list of things relatively close by we could do during the meet-up.
:bulletwhite:Hershey Park www.hersheypark.com/
:bulletwhite:Kitchen Kettle Village www.kitchenkettle.com/index.as…
:bulletwhite:Beach day (Ocean City, NJ or somewhere similar)
:bulletwhite:Washington DC
:bulletwhite:Gettysburg, PA (ghost tour?)
:bulletwhite:Shady Maple www.shady-maple.com/
:bulletwhite:The Green Dragon www.greendragonmarket.com/inde…
:bulletwhite:The Celtic Fling and Highland Games www.parenfaire.com/celtic/main… or Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire www.parenfaire.com/ (this will be dependent on when we decide to have the meet up)

Other Considerations
What I need from you guys right now is feedback and lots of it. Let me know what you think.

:bulletblue:Are you interested in coming to a meet-up next summer?

:bulletblue:What do you think of the location? The activities? Is there anything else in the area you think we should do?

:bulletblue:Do you have any concerns about the plans so far for this meet-up?

I would like to have more information posted about the 2014 FreeWriters Meet-up by September 7, but for that to happen I need to hear from you. Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks,
Blitz
As more information comes in, the schedule will be updated. Look for :new: to mark the additions. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can note itisme1109 or comment on the journal entry.

Thanks,

"Give a Critique, Get a Critique" was born. It will be open for sign up on Dec 1st. To sign up,
you give your name and your piece you wished to be critiqued. Then, we will post a journal entry

As you give critiques to the other pieces, then they should return your critique and
alternatively once you get critiques, you should return them a critique.
